The Bennetts: 4th of July

Grandma and Grandpa Heinkel came to visit last weekend. It was pretty hot so they spent a lot of time inside with Blake while Erik and I did some stuff outside. Saturday morning we did our first family outing. We started off at the farmer's market in Sun Prairie. The original plan was to go to the one in downtown Madison but it was just way too hot. We'll hopefully get to that one in the next couple of months. We then headed to Andrew and Molly's swim meet. Luckily their tent was in the shade so it wasn't too warm for Blake. It was fun to see them swim and see how the swim meets work. Saturday night Grandma and Grandpa offered to watch Blake while we went out. Well our "going out" was going to Target. We joked that our date night consisted of talking about diapers and formula. HA!!! Next time we'll be a little more prepared for a date night and will plan something fun.

Saturday, we also put up some more decorations in the nursery. We've also since then hung some shelves. The nursery is now ready for little Blake. I'm not sure what the "rules" are but I'm hoping to have him sleeping in the crib before the end of July. We borrowed a bassinet from some friends who are having a baby the end of August so we have to give it back. The good thing is he is growing so much he's getting a little too long for the bassinet.

We also celebrated the 4th of July. There is a little town called Token Creek that has a parade. I wanted to go to that BUT it was way too hot so we just took a little road trip to the condo and then went to Target. We watched the Macy's 4th of July celebration on TV. Next year will be more fun!

One other big event this week was he FINALLY lost his umbilical cord. We were happy about that as it makes diaper changing a little easier.
